to the MSDN forum monitors,
Is there a way to permanently block ALL posts from indviduals (such as the
person whose signature is 'unknown') who have demostrated a predilection for
,
or have a history of, proselytizing, or posting religious, political,
commercial (or any other completely inappropriate topic) in this forum?

newsreader software to filter spam if you so wish.

Although I was aware that there were 3rd party software utilities that can
be used to interact with newsgroups, I confess that I am still using the htt

web site url...
http://msdn.microsoft.com/newsgroups/
Is there a way to configure that?
And second, if you don't mind, which one of these newsgroup utilities do you
use? or would you recommend?
Regards,

For web-based access I mostly use Google. I'm not aware of any web-based
news readers that let you set up spam filters though.
Personally I prefer just to ignore spam. The spam content of this group is
very low (much lower than that of my email inbox anyway) and blocking all
posts from an anonymous address might block genuine on-topic posts too.

Do I sense a market opportunity? <gr>

causing too much overhead. Unless you do some real investigation it would
be very hard to do this, especially since most everyone uses an unreal
address here anyhow to avoid the spammers.
Just be nice and ignore them and they will go away. Engage them and this
thread will never die!

block all posts by certain senders or subject / keywords.

Jesus Christ, I might actually block a real message from him? I'm prepared
for that (grabs hold of chair, places feet firmly on ground, braces,
grimaces).
I'm still here... no bolts of lightning (supposed alternative comms media
for JC & his / her Dad).
So, I now have absolute proof - it is safe to block.
:)
Lets hope God has a sense of humour...

Yeah, you don't want to totally eliminate RAC spam, do you?
Especially with Sql 2005 on the horizon:)
Given some encouragement, I could possibly make it much more
interesting and lively.Would you really characterize this ng in those terms?
All those in favor feel free to pipe up.I'll take a non-response as a 'get
lost',
now isn't that fair?:)
