OLAP calculated membres and Report Model/Builder

My question is related to Report Builder but my data model is build using OLAP database so I am posting my question in OLAP group in case this issues is related to OALP side.

I have OLAP database. There are 5 cubes and one linked cube. My one linked cube has mapped all 5 cubes (like virtual cube in AS 2000) I am using AS 2005.

In my linked cube I have calculated members. I created a Report model using my olap database in reporting services.

In report builder I am not able to see my calculated members when I select linked cube. Is there any thing I am missing?

Thanks for help - Ashok

I think this may be related to whether the calculations are associated with a measure group. The Report Model only seems to list measures that are associated with a measure group. Try going into the calculations tab for your cube clicking on the calculation properties button (looks like a little window with a yellow hand over it) as associating your calculations with a measure group. Unfortunately I think you will need to delete and re-generation your report model.

Odd Sum() problem

Hi everyone, first time posting here.

I am having an odd problem with Crystal Reports XI. I have a small database table in Oracle, only has 8 records in it. I want to do a grand total for each column in the database (adding up all 8 records).

But when I use the Sum(fieldname) command, I get a number that is way off. The other commands like Maximum(fieldname) return the value I expect. But Sum is way off.

I am using the columns in a different part of the report, and the report is broken down into sections that match the different records of this database. What I need is a grand total for each column for the whole report.

I even tried a running total, and it returns the same number that is more than twice what it should be. There has to be something I am missing.

Thanks for the help. I am pretty new to .net and programming so I might have used the wrong terms for something. Is the detail section hidden or supressed? If so, have you checked to see if you are selecting distinct records? When you run te report what is the record count in the lower right corner of the screen? It should only be 8.

Odd Problem with ProClarity KPI designer

Hi, all here,

Thank you very much for your kind attention. Think maybe it worth posting my question about ProClarity as believing many of you may have been experts of ProClarity for SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services. :)

The problem I encountered is: when I created KPI with KPI designer in ProClarity desktop professional (I have got the whole ProClarity Analytics 6.2 platform installed), the KPI I created wont work if I added the status and trend for the KPI, only if I set 'none' for showing 'Status' and 'Trend' for the KPI I created, it will work but of course no KPI status and KPI trend. It's so odd. I have tried ages for that, still getting stuck for that. Would please any expert here give me any guidance and advices for that?

Thanks a lot in advance for that.

With best regards,

Yours sincerely,

Hello Helen. The KPI designer have a lot of different templates. Which one are you using?

You have also the possibility to create a KPI directly in SSAS2005 BIDs, under the KPI tab. You can try how they are presented in Professional 6.2 by browsing the Adventure Works cube that is part of the installation of SQL Server 2005(samples and tutorials).

The third possibility is to create a table in Professional 6.2 and map the values in that table in ProClarity Dashboard Studio 6.2 to targets. You will not get a trend however if you do not use the BIDS KPI tab or ProClarity KPI designer.

Hi, Thomas, thanks a lot for your guidance.

The template I used is: 'KPI with Goal, Status, and Trend'-which you have to write down MDX code. I have just found the problem caused by the syntax problem. It works fine now. Thank you very much for your help.
